Mend is a speculative AI recommendation app, introduced through an Instagram-style promo video. At first glance, it appears to offer personalized tips for beauty, wellness, and self-improvement.
But beneath its polished surface, the project critiques how algorithms subtly discipline women—shaping bodies, emotions, and behaviors in the name of care. Mend reflects how these systems reinforce a narrow ideal of the “perfect woman”: slim, soft, stable, and brandable.
Through scripted journeys and interface mockups, the video reveals how control becomes personalization, and discipline becomes choice.
Mend 是一个虚构的 AI 推荐应用，其宣传视频模仿了 Instagram 式的产品推广视频，看似温和亲切，实则暗藏规训。
通过“个性化”的私人订制，明亮的UI界面，更多的“用户反馈”等隐形设计。项目批判了算法的偏见，以“美”之名，规训女性身体、情绪与行为，构建“完美女性”的狭隘标准：纤细、柔和、稳定、以及可被贩卖。
Mend 揭示了算法如何利用女性“自我觉醒”与“变好”的心理欲望，将本应属于个人的审美转化为平台可控的价值导向。通过“个性化推荐”的名义，它悄然输入商业世界对女性的统一期待——可管理、可消费、可展演，从而将“优化自己”变成了为商品服务的过程。
